New War Memorial in Korea

Work has begun on planning a New Zealand memorial in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea, to recognise the New Zealanders who fought and died in the Korean War.

More than 6,000 New Zealand service men and women were involved in the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. The United Nations cemetery in Pusan is where most of our war dead are buried and is the site of regular commemoration ceremonies.

The memorial should be completed by November 2005.
