Royal New Zealand Ballet
The Royal New Zealand Ballet was established in 1953 as an independent charitable trust.
The Royal New Zealand Ballet has been directly funded by government since 1998 in recognition of its role as the national provider of a major performing art.
The company has 32 dancers, and performs throughout New Zealand and overseas. The Ballet presents a diverse repertoire of choreographic styles, from 19th century classics to 21st century contemporary works.
The Ministry manages the Ballet's relationship with the Crown and administers government funding. The Ballet is governed by a self-appointed board.
