New Zealand Film Archive Nga Kaitiaki O Nga Taonga Whitiahua

The Film Archive is an independent charitable trust that was established in 1981 with its main purpose being to collect, protect and project New Zealand's film and television history.

The Film Archive's collections are mainly of New Zealand film and videos dating from 1895 to the present day. The collections include feature films, documentaries, short films, home movies, newsreels, television programmes and film and television advertisements.

The Film Archive receives approximately 50% of its funding from the Crown, through the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and the Lottery Grants Board.

The Film Archive’s main base is in Wellington, and it has a public site in Auckland.
